The Chinese Civil War

The Chinese Civil War was about when many different political and military portions of this country fought for the power of China. It all started when Chiang Kai-shek's Kuomintang defeated Mao Tse-tung's forces which broke an alliance with the communists while they were on their way to establishing a new national government in 1928. The communists retreated to a barren and a remote base area in northwest China with an army that had become a fraction of what it used to be.
Then the communists forces began to take over the Kuomintang territory by the use of guerilla warfare. Although the United States tried to end the war between the capitalists and communists because they didn't want a communist victory. Unfortunately, none of the sides wanted to reach a compromise or give up the territories that they seized. The United States saw this as a pointless situation so they just funded the capitalists with funds, no military support. To no help, the communists continued to win victory after victory and established the People's Republic of China. Finally, the communists force took over major cities and made Chiang Kai-shek surrender to Taiwan.
